As was mentioned Clear Springs and Auntie Pastas are both good (auntie pastas serves Italian food) Butcher Boys and Smokehouse are both good if you're looking for BBQ
Those are still comercial type dollies diner down town would be a good start. Cowboy jacks salon is ok but closes early. Theres a few newer ones like Good Bites and grill near the university kroger, sams southern eatery across from the north street kroger is good if your wanting fried type sea food. Nijiyas for good local sushi.
