Ripped off in the Ozarks

Okay, I'll admit it: I'm an idiot for sending gift cards (google) to set up a date, and my unhappiness is a result of my own stupid mistakes, but I really need to talk with someone about what transpired on my trip to the Ozarks.

For those with access, here is my review:

The thing is, she is still e-mailing me, trying to guilt trip me that her mother has carcinoma, and how hard it is for her right now. She says she would repay me with a cashier's check, and that she cannot send me an Amazon Gift Card as payment, which I am telling her is the only way she can make good, since I am out of town and won't screw up my bank account by putting in a check of questionable origin.

Perhaps what has me reeling the most is I do feel sympathetic that she might actually be having to take care of her mother (although, for the life of me, I fail to see how Google would allow her to buy meds, unless she is going to a drug dealer). But in the end, she didn't not only rip off my money, but she also ripped off my time.

If you can say something other than I'm an idiot, I'd love to hear your input.

Thanks for listening.

Nothing I can add, but at least you learned a lesson about sending strangers money.

She may very well be dealing with a sick mother but that doesn't justify stealing from you. I'd kiss that money goodbye... anything less than "let's meet since you've already paid me" is a further waste of your time.

Sorry you got taken, live & learn my friend.

I see you got the real girlfriend experience. I don't care what they do for a living. When it comes to money, they will always try a guilt trip you out of it. So you learned a lesson. We all need to be burnt once or we will get to close to the flame. Still you are
not hurt physically. I know time is precious. If you hobby, you will eventually be stood up at some point. So you are officially in the club. Welcome and look both ways next time.

The important thing is you have alerted those who might otherwise would have called her. So word eventually gets out and hopefully her business dries up.
