Gender Fluid

I'm always trying to learn and while looking up the new Kinky Kollege schedule for October (http://www.kinkykollege.com), I found a person who describes himself as "gender fluid".

So I looked up the word in the Urban Dictionary and there it was:

Gender Fluid is a gender identity best described as a dynamic mix of boy and girl. A person who is Gender Fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more boy some days, and more girl other days.
Being Gender Fluid has nothing to do with which set of genitalia one has, nor their sexual orientation.

No, I'm not a boy, and I'm not a girl either. I am gender fluid.

So how does this work exactly? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I'm just curious if anyone else had heard of this term and how it's used?

Always,
Elisabeth
That is quite an interesting concept, I am very interested in a genuine explanation as well :-)
I'd suggest starting with Judith Butler if you wanted to do a lot of informative reading. Or, if your eyes are sore, this is a good listen! It's last week's To the Best of our Knowledge and it'll do a hell of a lot better job at explaining some things than most of us ever could.

Isn't that what a "Metro-sexual" is? Gender neutral, with the ability to lean in one direction or the other..

EW...being "gender fluid" is just "goin' with the flow". ;-)

You know..."Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't".

so, in some ways and lacking a treatise on gender fluidity, it does seem a metrosexual expression can be seen as part of gender fluidity, but gender fluidity is not limited to the term metro-sexual. i think it may just be one's personal impression. for if one would lay out traits one considers more feminine than not beside traits one thinks of as masculine where would meticulous grooming find its position?

i think everyone has some mixture of sensitivity to each list of traits. so everyone to some degree is "gender" fluid. we are people. we share humanity. both genders, assuming what we consider appropriate mental health, feel love or fear and all manner of emotions, we do have a mixture.
