Just thinking today.. Why is it acceptable to use the word ''Negro'' only when referring to the ''Negro Leagues'' (Baseball)?

Also.. Does the guy/girl whose job it is to scamper on to the Tennis Court to retrieve a ball hit into the Net, look at the guy/girl whose job is to rub the Basketball Court with a rag after players fall down on a specific spot, think his own job is more prestigous? Does he/she think the Basketball Court floor Mopper has a shitty job in comparison?
