Some guy at work brought that to attention about a month ago. I asked him when Kennedy was killed. He guessed about 1967. Nope, I told him. I asked him when this speech was given and he guessed about 1965. Wrong again. He said it didn't matter because Kennedy warned about secret organizations and that is why he died. Told him I don't remember any such speech. We went to a computer and put in the phrase about secret organizations. Nada. So I went with an earlier phrase and viola' I found the speech at the Kennedy Memorial Library site. 19 minutes long delivered to a bunch of newspaper publishers in 1961 about three months after taking office. Kennedy warned about secrets, Kennedy warned about an undeclared war (with communism), Kennedy warned about protecting American interests, and Kenndy asked publishers think about national security before they published things willy nilly. The passage about secret organizations was NOT in the speech. The speech; http://www.jfklibrary.org/Research/R...sociation.aspx

What are you saying, JD? I knew about this speech in the late '60s. That it may not appear in the official library does not surprise me.

At first it wasn't apparent that you weren't referring to this post:

???? Are we talking at cross purposes? That excerpt came from a longer speech that I linked to. It was 19 minutes long. It had nothing to do with JFK's assassination. It was about the danger of secrecy and the neccesity of secrecy in the undeclared war on communisn. This little snippet is out of context and there is also a written version that has an entire added paragraph that JFK never spoke. So what is your point?

I've seen the video of Kennedy making the speech. The clip is accurate.
