It's email. This is 2014 not 1994, you have an iPhone, you can read and write, communication is easy. Whether I have a phone with which you could verbally speak is irrelevant. Call it NTNS (No Text, No Show) if you like. The point is we had an appointment, you could have fulfilled your side of the agreement, but deliberately chose not to.

I don't know what specifically happened in y'all's situation, so I won't even try to speculate or assign blame.

However, I will say that I personally just would not feel comfortable having a date with someone that I couldn't chat with beforehand. I like to get a feel for someone by the way they articulate, & have a convo with them. It's mainly to see if they set off any red flags. It's my last phase of screening.

Hobby phones are what? Around $20? If you're going to be in the hobby, investing in one is a good idea, IMO.

Sounds like the whole story is quite a shame. I can see both sides' reasoning. I have reached a point where hobby phoning (ahead of time) is not as easy anymore. But like BD, I too prefer to "speak" with the girl before playtime, glad to hear it's not just me. But then again, I have a new-found understanding of the "no phone-no text" / "email preferred" method of communication. It's a damned shame that two legit players couldn't link-up, only due to their own security preferences. Then again, again, again, it sounds like BD did another bad "no-no", by not not honoring prior agreements, and seemingly taking a better (perhaps more secure) option without respectfully following through with communicating her change of heart (or gut instinct).

I suppose each side in a situation like this simply has to respect each others' preferences and move on if they cannot agree on terms fully , 'Cest La Vie.

I fully realize that my new "email only preference" will probably limit my chances at meeting and enjoying new girls for the first time. I don't really like the "no speak" aspect either, it's a bitch, but it is what it is. I can only hope my references go to bat for me.

It has nothing to do with cost, Ginger, it's just keeping up with another phone. I had to this hat a few years back for work (work BBerry and personal phone) and it was just a pain for me. I may take Slinger ' recommendation and use Google Voice. I wasn't aware hearing someone was a version of screening.

However, that wasn't the case here. Otherwise when I asked that question two hours before the appointment, we could have avoided this. Plus, if that was what was bothering her, I don't think she would have tried to reschedule for later in the day (when I still wouldn't have a phone). So this isn't really a phone or no phone thing.
