Any pointers as to a good place to grab a beer? A cool hangout? Woodlands/Conroe.

There is nothing worth seeing in the Woodlands, and especially not Conroe ...

^^^^^^^^^Papa's Ice house out on the lake...

I-45 @ Rayford - Sawdust is loaded with bars of all stripes.
Dives- try Fortune Club or the 19th hole (Buffalo guys can make good cheap wings), Exit 73 bar & grill.
Better- Papas ice house or Molly's Pub, Rookies, Tewbeleax's and the Flying Pug.
Then there is Martinis and More or The Crescent Moon wine bar.
If you want to troll for out of town businessmen try Amerigo's, Kirby's, Bob's or Fleming bars.
This is only scratching the surface.
IMO, Molly's is easy to find and where I usually have a beer with clients to start with.
PM me and I'll buy you a beer there tomorrow afternoon and orient you on the area.

Fielding's, Jasper's, Perry's, and Kona Grill have pretty good, upscale happy hours.
