App Hack?

How does this happen?

Ok, T mobile phone. Not too many bells and whistles just the usual caller id and spam blocking. phone rings and identifies the name of the caller as "joe blow" e.g. Call takes place and nothing unusual about the call takes place. Ok, I get a couple of clicks down to find out if the number is familiar to me, no. Check the number through facebook to see if there's anyone in my friends list or social circle. No. I call back and get the voice mail. This all takes place over thirty minutes. The phone rings again and the number is the same only the caller ID identifies a totally different person. Now it says it's "ABC Company Inc"

What the hell just happened?

You may have bumped into Caller ID spoofing on the first call in to you.
There are apps that callers can use to change the incoming caller ID. I had friends calling me with my ex's #, hanging up. I called her after the 3rd time and told her to knock it off. She denied it and I started giving her the business when they called the 4th time while I had her on the phone. The bastards...
