Local fishing?

Anybody do any fishing around the EP area? I recently caught the bug again and find myself wanting to go. Some of my fondest memories are when I was a kid living in New Mexico and my dad would take me fishing for the day.

Anybody know of any good local spots. I live less than half a mile from the Rio on the west side but never fished it. Only been to Hideaway here locally.

Any recommendations within a few hours drive of the city? Thinking about going up to Caballo or Elephant Butte for a weekend camping thing some time this year before it cools down too much.

I'm not huge on fishing personally. But, I've heard good things about Elephant Butte!

might want to try silver lake up in cloudcroft and ive also fished percha dam (caballo lake) as well as the butte..although hideaway gets stocked frequently and so does ascarate (however ascarate is currently in rough shape)...
