Germans recapture Thiaumont work. It is the 16th time Thiaumont has changed hands.

I own a piece of trench art made from a 75mm artillery shell dated 1916 from Verdun.

It was a horrible war.

One hundred years ago today, December 18, 1916, the Battle of Verdun ended.

We are still living under the "long shadow" of World War I.
