"Human Trafficking"

I was thinking maybe we should have a generic catch all human trafficking articles thread so we can all be aware of who the players are in happing the narrative of "human trafficking" in Nebraska.

I post this article as it is the most recent and identifies the specific groups and individuals we should all be concerned about and educate ourselves about.

It also shows that the narrative extends across the state.

Here's an article I came across involving a small town in MN.

Interesting article Grn, not quite the line of thought I was thinking, but fits the subject.

Here's an article whose content should concern us all.

White Knight is graduating soon and will be working for the Nebraska based Human Trafficking Initiative. He's working on some kind of computer program that "scans online data regarding prostitutes".

Here is the most concerning paragraph though:

"Price is working on a platform where law enforcement agencies can access leads. One such leads platform for Nebraska is expected to be operational within a month, he said."

Date of article is May 11th, so LE may already be using this new program.
I would be surprised if anyone on this forum would be in favor of a 40ish year old man trafficking in minor girls. I believe all of us believe in protecting minors from such an individual. In that sense, we can support the notion of governments cracking down on trafficking.

The reality, on the other hand, seems to be a scam. Local governments receive huge subsidies based on the premise stated above. To validate those subsidies they create these stings and essentially say, "Oops, we did not get any minors, but at least we are trying."

I strongly believe that most of us have met a trafficked minor. I am fairly sure I have. It haunts me to this day that I did not do more. I am also fairly sure that most of us wish that there was more that we realistically could do when confronted with circumstances of people trafficking in minors.

OG, I agree that it's doubtful any of us are supportive of someone involved in the trafficking of minors in any way.

I think we all hope we weren't involved in one of those situations, but it can happen and the options are more limited than concerned women's groups and the government realizes.

Until then they will continue to conduct stings, especially during high visibility periods like College World Series and BH Shareholder's Meeting every year. We all know it's possible and that it does happen, we just don't know when and how often these operations will occur.
Something I hope none of us are supportive of:

So twice this year in the metro they have found actual human trafficking of underage girls. Man that Child Exploitation Task Force is effective and totally not a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Anyway glad the dude got caught and the girl got to safety.

I know I wouldn't have used those services because I would never see anyone that willingly stays at that crap shack. That place is already on the LE radar because of the low hanging fruit types that post on craigslist. It's not unusual to see marked cars in the lot while they pick some low hanging fruit up.
Some of the previously mentioned cleaning up the streets prior to CWS.
