Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Saturday that, in the U.S., "if you don't have a job, you are left to die."Ocasio-Cortez, who made the remark at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, added that "we should not be haunted by" the possibility of automated workers replacing jobs, according to The Verge.
"We should be excited by that. But the reason we're not excited by it is because we live in a society where if you don't have a job, you are left to die. And that is, at its core, our problem," added the congressman, whose "Green New Deal" proposal includes a federal jobs guarantee.
Ocasio-Cortez also said during her interview that automation could potentially allow for more time to focus on art, inventions, the sciences and "enjoying the world that we live in."
"Because not all creativity needs to be bonded by wage," she said.
Ocasio-Cortez describes herself as a democratic socialist and has urged the Democratic party to consider progressive policies and proposed the Green New Deal resolution, which suggests aiming for zero carbon emissions in a decade. The resolution also aims "to create millions of good, high-wage jobs in the United States."
AOC has again put foot in mouth - it has happened so often that a Colon-rectal surgeon may be required to get her foot out of her ass, rather than an oral surgeon/podiatrist to get her foot out of her mouth.
Never heard of Federal Welfare programs???
“There are roughly 80 welfare programs overall that together comprise the single largest item in the federal budget — larger than Medicare, Social Security, or defense.”

CRS Report: Welfare Spending The Largest Item InTheFederal BudgetRanking Member Sessions and the minority staff of the Senate Budget Committee requested from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) an overview of cumulative means-testedfederal welfare spending in the United States in the most recentyear for which data is available(fiscal year 2011). The results are staggering. CRS identified 83 overlapping federal welfare programs that together represented the single largest budget item in 2011—more than the nation spends on Social Security, Medicare, or national defense. The total amount spent on these 80-plus federal welfare programs amounts to roughly $1.03trillion.Importantly, these figures solely refer to means-tested welfare benefits. They exclude entitlement programs to which people contribute(e.g.,Social Security and Medicare)
We spend over a Trillion dollars to let people "DIE".
Thank you for your informed opinion. AOC.
