Good points, though I learned in a recent iincident there are ways to hide originating IP addresses in e-mails, especilally in yahoo, google and hotmail.Yep, that's IMAP webmail, not POP mail. Those services use consolidator routers and do not normally log IP addresses of the sender, as long as you can authenticate into the server, you are then authorized to send mail through your account. Webmail uses different ports through a router, much like viewing a website. Now, the rub is that the account must be verified, so using a client app to receive the POP mail as verification can be logged and traced if LEO so wishes, but there must be felonious evidence to get that warrant; not likely.
