using a mobile device? say, an ipad?

Firefox for Android and Windows has an addon called Search by Image that will search for a web image using your choice of search engine. I just installed it from the Firefox addon library. It says it has a Chrome version. Here is their web page: https://github.com/dessant/search-by-image

thanks, Kvothe

that actually worked

some further research revealed the following...

Tineye could not be easier or simpler to use
Every image posted has a unique url. copy it
Go to tineye.com
Paste in the url. search
it’s that easy

Google reverse image search is more complicated
I got it to work, using the info posted by Kvothe, but...
I had to install Chrome
That interfered with other Google apps on my device
I am still thinking about how I might make it work
and if it’s worth it or not

I found an iOS app called DuckDuckGo

it allows Google search-by-image
without having to install Chrome
and, apparently, without interfering with other Google apps

a private browsing app,
it looks like it might be useful in other ways, as well

One last observation: I would always suggest using both Google and TinEye. I have found web images on one and not the other. I think there are sites or depths that one will crawl and not the other.
Yandex is another good one
