I was on another site(just to check it out) that is kind alike this one.
They have a panic button you click that takes you too google, in case a SO, kid, boss, etc walks in the room

'Kind athought it was cool, maybe there could be a variation of that on here.

Just a suggestion!!
I think the panic button is cool. Eccie should borrow that idea as well as any other good ones it finds.

However, a panic button is needed only on a site that actually works. maybe with a few more donations, Eraps can afford an experienced programmer/ IT guy.

For the smart ones here, isn't there a way to set that up yourself to whatever page you want instead of a weather page?
for the smarter person -- they are cognizant of their surroundings at all times and don't place themselves in a scenario where the RED button is needed in the first place...

for the even smarter person ==> he or she does NOT even begin to think about using corporate assets to venture out to places like this.

.one of these days the VP of IS/IT will stroll into your work station or office with your boss and ask you for your password --- if you have forgotten it don't worry because screenshots are already in your folder the Director of HR has with your letter of resignation (if in fact you are given that opportunity...)

Fortunately the smartest know how to log off from a wan and can jump on a wireless network across the street that will always be unsecured. no screenshots necessary!!! I personally am more worried at home

There's no need for a panic button. There's already one in your browser, called your home button. Point it to a safe web page.

Some of these ideas are Firefox only.

1) Put a innocuous bookmark in your bookmarks or favorites toolbar. One click and that window comes up. Put the same Google page on there and it's exactly the same as the panic button.

2) Alt-home takes you to your home page.

3) Windows-D brings up your desktop.

4) ALT-F9 will minimize the window you're in.

5) Alt-tab will switch you to another window, which may or may not cover up what you were doing.

6) Windows-L locks your screen immediately.

7) Ctrl-T opens a new TAB in Firefox. IE doesn't really work that well.

8) Ctrl-W closes the window you're on.

Don't do the "panic" action and then stop and look at the intruder with a guilty look. Keep typing on the "safe" screen you're working on and act distracted, only half paying attention to the intruder or do something where you look like you're finishing off a chain of thought before stopping and talking to them.

And try not to get in a situation where you're going to get fired if you get caught in the first place.
