The Mongering Gods Not On My Side Today

Decided this morning I was going to try a new-to-me place near my neighborhood. Don’t really want to use up my usual excuses for driving around Alief or Chinatown on a Sunday afternoon. Plus, I really don’t WANT to drive down Bellaire on a Sunday afternoon. I read up on some encounters from the last several months and made a short list of places near the 084.

Then around noon my kid wants to go swimming, guh. Ok. That is a time suck until about three by the time we get back and I get showered up. Still thinking I can get some table time in, my wife asks me to head to the pharmacy to pick up an RX before they close. Aha! My getaway!

A getaway that turns to bust when it takes them almost 40 minutes to get through the three cars in front of me. Finally I get out of that trap and head towards D&D which is not my prime spot to try but is close by and allegedly accommodating to L1.

Stroll in at 4:30, Mama peeks in from the back. I ask for an hour but she says they are closing. Crap. I know the sign says 10pm close but hell, they’ve probably been slow all day and want to go home. I don’t blame her.

No other place nearby that I want to rush through in MY now limited timeframe so I head home. Jin and J-Spa are more commitment than I want to experience. WZ/Lavender are a crapshoot for availability. They seem to operate with only two providers at a time and have been busy the last few times I’ve stopped in, even in the middle of a weekday. The place behind Shipley’s had what looked like 3-4 cars out front, with no other places open. S&G has appeared to become a full-service spot. Everything else is more legit than +1

Oh well, maybe later in the week.
