The Speaker managed to come up with a compromise. Raise the flag to full mast on inauguration day, lower it back to half mast the following day to continue to honor former President Carter for 30 days.
Not bad.
We can now hope Trump will improve the 2nd time around.

It seems this has been done in the past too when 30 days of half mast is requested. An important event lets them raise for one day

It wasn't for a presidential mourning period if memory right. I think but it was probably 20 to 30 or maybe even 40 years ago. I don't even think I could get an accurate internet search question going to even find out.
