Late to respond but think either would be fine - both have sufficient tourism to bring clientele and providers to the area. Haven’t been to tamarind - let us know how your trip went.

Tamarindo makes it easy. Get a beer at one of the restaurants by the casino, or grab a seat in front of it and chill. They come to you. Small, coastal town but options for sure.
