I headed west on Camp Bowie from westbound I-30 this evening. Out of curiosity, I threw my head over my left shoulder ... and didn't recognize any of the landscape I saw.
That ramhsackle, piece of shit strip center that once hosted a studio with such luminaries as Candace (and some of her crew [Jami Lynn is the only name I remember at the moment] before they departed), Bella and Nevaeh -- I could do some research and come up with a lot more names -- has been demolished. It needed to be.
But, at the same time, what the studio owner did with his quarters there demonstrated how it was possible to take something like that and turn it into paradise.
I noted that the razing was not a new event, as a couple of newly constructed buildings have been put up in that area. I used to pass through that are daily, so the change took me by surprise.
I don't traverse McCart often, but the last time I beheld the building that once housed Nicole, Emily and a gorgeous blonde Latina whose working name I can't remember, among others, was an insurance agency.
Ah, memories. Those were the days.
