Avoiding Death Threats - How to advice

Hi all, I'm a random scroller that likes to go to amps. To protect myself, I don't sign up for these kinds of sites very often. Mostly because they take CC for the ROS (RSO?) and the information can be limited without that. Also, most of these kinds of sites don't get a enough traffic to make my subscription worth it. I was on OH2 for a bit, but even they have slowed down. ECCIE has better info in the free section, and seems to be fairly active, so I'm giving it a shot. I'm also new to the DFW area from out of Austin.

My part of DFW has sucky amps. Additionally, I have a strange feeling the AMP seen is about to ICE over if you know what I mean. So I decided to get adventurous and try to find an individual provider, which I've never done before. Most require references, which I don't have coming from the amp scene, and there are so many fake ads. So I'm flying blind.

I tried texting a few from the various lists, and non of them worked out for me (distance). All of a sudden, I get a text from someone claiming to be a gang/mafia/cartel kinda person and i owe them money for wasting their girl's time. I'm not worried they'll do anything or can even find me, but I don't want to repeat that. So I thought I'd seek some advice. How do I find a provider if I don't have references? What should I look to avoid in an ad? What should I look for as promising in an ad? Also curious if anyone else has gotten the "time wasters death threat" before?

Yeah, I've gotten about 2 or 3. The last one was a month or so ago from a supposed cartel member and called my hobby phone over 10 times in 5 minutes and sent threatening texts and pics. I just ignored it until I got home from work and texted the number back...nothing.

*yawn*

It’s Thursday. We were due for another death threat thread about now.

Btw, don’t respond to the toll road texts either. Same thing.
