I feel like I'm back on dial-up AOL internet with my 56k modem (minus the cool sound effects). Holy hell the site is absolutely dragging ass lately; what is going on? Anyone else feel like it's painfully slow? Did the hamster that powers the server fall off his wheel?

My whole internet is slow lately, but not that unusual for it to happen to me.
I got an email a few days ago from the California Digital Newspaper Collection: "The CDNC is being hit, yet again, with excessive bot traffic which is overwhelming our server. We’re working to block the attacks but right now the CDNC is down. We hope to be back up soon and have a method for blocking future attacks."
I don't know why anyone would want to make a cyber attack on a site that digitizes old newspapers. Lots of cyber attacks going on every day we never hear about.
