Good for Trump!

President Trump is threatening to withdraw U.S. support from Israel if Netanyahu's government doesn't stop the killing in Gaza. Furthermore he's fed up with the $4 billion in aid the U.S. sends Israel every year. He's started negotiations with Iran about its nuclear program and sounds upbeat about that. And admittedly while he hasn't brought peace to Ukraine, at least unlike Biden and European leaders, he's trying.

Will he be successful in these endeavors? Well, probably not in all three. But if he succeeds in even one, maybe he really will deserve a Nobel Peace Prize. And if the world becomes a safer place, that should help with our budget deficits, as we won't have to spend as much on defense.

I have to give kudos to Trump for the attempt but I give it long odds that he’ll be successful in any of these situations. Iran, Palestine, Israel have been in the middle of an ongoing crisis for generations. The situation in Ukraine is not any better.

I really hope that the world gains some kind of peace in these regions but the chances of Trump getting an award for it are likely to be posthumous.

People dislike Trump so much that it will take years after his death for his accomplishments to be recognized without the hate and resentment overshadowing everything.

Threats don't mean anything to Bibi. He takes Dumpster's threats as a polite suggestion. I'll be the first to admit wrong if the GOP withdraws aid.

He's not trying shit. Prince MBS is in the driver's seat with peace. If Iran does develop a nuclear program, he can't pull back support. Hello!

Do we want him to succeed and help Iran with Nuclear "Energy"?

If he comes up with something that slows or stops Iran's development of nuclear weapons and and aid to groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, then he'll deserve a lot of brownie points IMO.

He's not a negotiator compared to either.

He need balls to negotiate. Doesn't even have a brain, guts, or a spine.

Trump should write a sequel, the Art of the Fucked Up Deal! And invite the 250 people who buy the most copies of his book to a special dinner at the White House! Hell, I bet he'd make more money than Hunter Biden did with those paintings!

Honestly, back on topic, I do like the way he conducts foreign policy. He tries to keep us out of wars.

Netanyahu must be stopped for the sake of all who live in the region.

I fear however that like Putin, Netanyahu is going to tell Trump “sure” and then do whatever the fuck he wants.

Trump will back down again.

Hope this time I’m wrong.

Many believe high defense spending in the 1980's created a "peace dividend" in the 1990's, when the USA reduced the money it spends on the military with the end of the cold war.

But points well taken, yours and Yssup's. It's interesting how aggressive Trump is in trade negotiations and relations with NATO. While in relations with our "enemies", real or alleged, he comes off as a peacenik. I criticize his approach to the trade wars because I know the results will suck. Foreign policy strategy however is above my paygrade. At least he's trying to resolve conflicts, instead of promoting endless war.
