although i have no idea who they voted for in November 2024, I would like to give props where props are due: txdot and tiny.

tiny because he always does his homework, and tx dot because his posts always produce a "what the hell was i thinking"..

That's not the best way to phrase it but I think I know what you're getting at. Lusty Lad and Eccieuser probably aren't posting because they're close to getting pointed out. Texas Contrarian probably isn't because LL's not around. Blackman's gotten cautious because of points too. LL, Eccieuser, and TC are among the best on here IMO, and Blackman would be if he'd post more on legal issues instead of always playing the partisan.

The hyperfocus by some board members on whether a thread's on topic or should belong in the sandbox discourages people from posting. I could see how you would view that as censorship as it often happens when someone's losing an argument. Typically threads that get relegated to the sand box, like this one, peter out pretty quickly.

As to "censoring" insults, that's a fine line. Sometimes they're in jest and highly entertaining, like LL's and WTF's back-and-forth homo insults. And sometimes they're abusive. There's a political thread on ISG, which is like eccie for foreign countries, and it's pretty much open warfare there. That has discouraged a lot of users from posting. The moderator will step in though, rarely, when things get wildly out of hand. For example, he recently deleted a post and said this, which I thought was pretty cute,

Just write about American Politics and not about the penis of other members. Admin

Yes, shouts out to The Waco Kid and Salty as well. If you want to come up to speed on Tucker Carlson his thread, which he carefully tends, is a great place to do it. Love him or hate him (Tucker Carlson), that's the place to go! And from time to time The Waco Kid takes a deeper dive into issues than most of us.
