Common Conviction Results
So I know I can find the maximum penalties for being caught soliciting in various US States fairly easily, but is there anywhere I can go to find the common penalties? For example, in Arizona you can get up to 6 months in jail, but I assume that first time offenders do not usually get that.
On a related note, I know repeat offenders can get higher penalties, but does that apply across state lines? So would a conviction in Arizona lead to a higher penalty if convicted again in Louisiana?
Every state has their own guidelines for penalties. Yes if you have a prior in another state that would be considered if a different state were to bring charges-its a simple background check.
However, you need to be caught. In almost all states a soliciting charge is a misdemeanor, so unless something weird were to occur getting caught means more than likely you did something that caught an eye of an officer. I know one fellow who pushed a red light leaving a hotel known for the hobby. Got pulled over and the officer started asking questions.
Stings require a lot of resources, several officers, several vehicles, and go way up in a pd department to occur. Usually stings are used as attention grabbing headlines.
I was recently looking up some local arrests and it looked to me like the provider was charged for just taking out an ad and communicating with someone (le) by email or text, in addition to being arrested for meeting in person to do whatever. This was in Florida does anyone have any information about this?
