The Army First Sergeant noticed a new Private and barked at him, “Get over hear, what is your name soldier?” “John”, the soldier replied. “Look I don’t know what kind of pansy ass bleeding heart crap they are teaching soldiers in Basic Training nowadays, but I don’t call anyone in my company by their first name”, the First Sergeant scowled. “It breeds familiarity, and that leads to a breakdown in authority. I refer to my soldiers by their last names, Smith Jones, Brown, whatever. My soldiers refer to me as ‘First Sergeant’, do I make myself clear?” “Yes, First Sergeant.” “Now that we have that straight, what is your last name soldier?” The Private sighed, “Darling. My name is John Darling.” “Alright John, here is what I want you to do….”
Haha...good one OT! (lol)
.....reminds me of the time when a new 2nd Lt came in as our new Squadron Commander and I was fulfilling a First Sergeant role at the time
over a short period of time I guess he thought he was getting on my good side and one day asked me during a dormitory inspection if he could call me by my first name?
.....with that I turned to him and said, ".....sure Sir --- you can call me CHIEF any time....."
