Levon Helm... one of Arkansas' Finest , is gone - RIP

Always to be remembered as the soulful voice of the "hungry, just barely alive" Confederate Virgil Caine.

The Band left behind so many great songs... Levon was the only American... I'm gonna have to replay The Last Waltz when I get home...
Sweet N Little's Avatar
I saw him play several times in the Helena King Biscuit Blues Festival. Great musician and person.
Pulled into Nazereth feelin bout a half past dead......So sang a young man Levon Helm introduced at Wildwood Park couple years ago as he received Governor's lifetime achievement award, but could not sing due to throat issues.. Sent chills up the crowd's collective spine I am told as the voice, playing style, and looks (except for hair color) were straight from the Last Waltz---it was his nephew, and the Weight, not "Up on Cripple Creek"-my fav, was the encore or last song played.
