Anyone participating in the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle ride?

For those who ride and who plan on participating in the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle ride.
Please let me know. I would love to accompany someone on this ride. If at all possible.

Pass on that. I have a bike but I don't see the point in it. I am a veteran, and we only did what we were paid to do, just like a cashier at a grocery store, a dog catcher, a mailman, or anyone else. We didn't do anything that we didn't want to do. We are no heros, just as a policeman, a mailman, a janitor, or a soldier would be. We and them get paid to do a job that we and them like doing. Some people just don't get it.

1. Fire Fighters spend countless hours training to recognize buildings not to go into.

2. Fire Fighters absolutely do not get paid to sacrifice themselves. Regardless of public opinion, it is absolutely not in the job description. Just like my first point, Fire Fighters spend countless hours studying situations not to go into.

3. Those FDNY Fire Fighters made conscious choices to sacrifice their own lives because they knew they could save two, four, six, etc lives.

The rescue workers of 9/11 are better than any one of us on this message board. Regardless of pay check, job description, blah blah blah, none of us can hold a candle to those fine men and women.

No committees, no executive orders, just a 911 phone call and those guys were there. They always are.

I still don't agree. Firefighters gets one day on and two days off or 2 days on and four days off. It is a pretty cushy job. They just do what they are paid to do.

Kind of like my days in the military. I worked two days on and got six days off or one week on and three weeks off, whichever I wanted, pretty cushy, pretty laid back, and pretty easy money. Most people in the military don't risk their lives. Then when I did work, I could sleep on the job, and it still counted as work. And I didn't have the easiest job, either, lol. That is probably why I see it the way that I see it. I didn't do much, and I got paid like everyone else did. Not my choice, their choice.

You do have a good point. Then again, a lot of electricians get shocked to death, jet mechanics get sucked into the turbine, farmers get run over by their own machinery, taxi drivers die from acccidents, ... 911 got a lot of publicity but more people die from other accidents than firefighters at 911.

It is just a job. No one forced them to take that job. It is just a job that they want to do. When I was in the military, it was the job that I wanted. When my Dad was a cop, it was the job he wanted. When my sister was a school teacher, it was the job, she wanted. None of them are heros, they just do their job that they get paid for.

September 11, 2001 Rescue Workers are heroes.

And again, the actions those Rescue Workers performed on September 11th did not fall under their regular job duties. It wasn't what they get paid to do. Fire Fighters are not paid to sacrifice their lives. Risk their lives in calculated situations? Yes. Sacrifice their lives in a losing situation? Nope.

Yet they did.

They are heroes and better than the rest of us.
