Police State USA

CuteOldGuy's Avatar
Here are the Police State Bills enacted within the past 18 months, that turned America into Amerika:

The NDAA Indefinite Detention Bill
The NDAA authorizes the military to indefinitely detain U.S. Citizens without any due process.

The "U.S. is a Battlefield" bill that gives the military the right to indefinitely detain U.S. Citizens without any due process. In passing this law, the U.S. Government has COMMITTED TREASON Against The American People.

If you are ACCUSED or SUSPECTED of being a Terrorist, you will detained by the military indefinitely and without any due process.

The NDAA violates the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. § 1385), as it will allow federal military personnel to engage in domestic law enforcement. This is profoundly unconstitutional and scary.

The Patriot Act Extension
The PATRIOT Act gives sweeping search and surveillance to domestic law enforcement and foreign intelligence agencies and eliminates checks and balances that previously gave courts the opportunity to ensure that those powers were not abused. PATRIOT and follow-up legislation now in development threaten the basic rights of millions of Americans.

US Constitution (Bill of Rights) Vs. US Patriot Act
http://www.scn.org/ccapa/pa-vs-const.html

The PATRIOT Act butts against the protections of six Constitutional amendments: the 1st (freedom of religion, speech, press, and assembly, and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances), 4th (freedom from unreasonable searches), 5th (right against self-incrimination and due process), 6th (due process, the right to counsel, a speedy trial, and the right to a fair and public trial by an impartial jury), 8th (reasonable bail and freedom from cruel and unusual punishment), and 14th (equal protection guarantee for both citizens and non-citizens).

The Assassination of Americans:
It is ironic but perhaps sadly appropriate that Attorney General Eric Holder would choose a law school, Northwestern University, to deliver a speech earlier this month in which he demolished what was left of the rule of law in America.

In what history likely will record as a turning point, Attorney General Holder bluntly explained that this administration believes it has the authority to use lethal force against Americans if the President determines them to be a threat to the nation. He tells us that this is not a violation of the due process requirements of our Constitution because the President himself embodies “due process” as he unilaterally determines who is to be targeted. As Holder said, “a careful and thorough executive branch review of the facts in a case amounts to ‘due process.’” That means that the administration believes it is the President himself who is to be the judge, jury, and executioner.

What makes this so appalling is not merely that the Obama administration demands the right to kill whomever it wants without having to account to anyone for its actions, choices or even claimed legal authorities, though that’s obviously bad enough (as I wrote when the ACLU lawsuit was commenced: “from a certain perspective, there’s really only one point worth making about all of this: if you think about it, it is warped beyond belief that the ACLU has to sue the U.S. Government in order to force it to disclose its claimed legal and factual bases for assassinating U.S. citizens without charges, trial or due process of any kind”). What makes it so much worse is how blatantly, insultingly false is its claim that it cannot confirm or deny the CIA drone program without damaging national security. http://www.salon.com/2012/03/26/obam...her/singleton/

PATRIOT ACT.

Yes, Assup. I know you are opposed to freedom. I'm hoping some others will understand the situation we're in.
Hard to blame it all on Obie it passed both houses.Term limits...

It is DEFINITELY NOT all Obama's fault! Many Republicans, including "so-called" Tea Party Republicans supported this, in both the House and Senate.

That's why I keep saying we need to quit voting for both Democrats and Republicans. BOTH parties are opposed to freedom!

It's odd, the only thing the political parties can agree on are those things which limit our fundamental, unalienable rights.

I like to keep reminding people that Joe Biden takes credit for creating the Patriot Act. Also COG, the Posse Comitatus Act is not a constitutional amendment. It can be overridden by later laws. Up until recently there seemed to be no reason for changing it but Katrina started the process. Bush was not allowed to send federal aid until requested by the governor. This resulted in a bill that would allow other presidents to not have to wait. I could blame the democrats for playing politics with people's suffering in Florida, New Orleans, and Greensburg KS but...why not, it pisses off WTF. Bush amended the law to prevent another Katrina and the door was opened.

A somewhat common phrase is: Bad facts make bad law.

Obamacare is a perfect example.

Look what "we" get to provide health coverage for 15 milliion U.S. citizens, whether they want health care coverage or not.

As for the sound recording ... #1 entering the United States is a privilege .... when I "re-enter" the United States I expect questions and I answer those questions, along with producing whatever paper work I am requested to produce, and if I am told to sit here or sit there, allow my bags to be searched and my person to be searched, I COOPERATE!

#2: The "Canadian" is an ASSHOLE.... and the mere fact they were recording the entry was evidence that they planned on making an issue of the border security.

If one wants to go to jail ...
.... listen to the audio and the tone of that ASSHOLE and follow his lead.

The ASSHOLES on 911 came from Canada ... some more than once.
I favor tighter restrictions on ALL people trying to cross our international borders. That isn't giving up freedom but required to protect it.

COG, do you support tighter borders and national id cards?
CuteOldGuy's Avatar
Yes, I support tighter borders. Not sure about National ID cards. State issued voter ID should be sufficient.

National ID's .... I have a State ID and a National ID .... one's a driver's license and the other is a friggin social security card....unless one wants to consider my passport as a "National ID"! And since I have all three I don't have a problem showing them if requested when I am voting, driving, and/or leaving or entering the country.

Of course, I am not from Canada so I don't believe I have a right to enter the U.S.
