Credit Card Information Stolen
Even though this is sort-of hobby related, it really wasn't party of MY hobbying, as I haven't seen anyone in almost a year.
In early January I got a new credit card. I like to pay with a lot of things with cash, saving the crdit card for online purchases. I really haven't done any shopping other than for groceries since December. I only used that credit a couple times in the Omaha area.
Which is why it narrowed it down a little when I was contacted by my credit card company about some "interesting" charges I was making. On Feb. 3 I got a call saying they found it a bit odd that back on February 2 I had rented two ajoining suites in an upscale Council Bluffs cacino. They contacted me soon enough that the person was still there.
Although police were called and the room raided the occupants were gone and never returned. From what the hotel has told me they found lingerie and a lot of condoms. Either this was a provider, or a swinger party from the sounds of it.
It looks like I won't be charged for the rooms. Even the hotel manager stated that proper procedure wasn't followed as the woman signed in using my name (a very manly-name) and the credit card number was entered manually, not by swiping it. It's my guess, by I wonder if the clerk that signed this woman in was in on this.
I got a description of a woman in her mid to late 20's, shoulder length blonde hair, average build.
Damn, that sucks. Who was your credit card company? The only credit card company that has proactively called me about suspicious charges is Bank of America. Cabela's seems to let everything slide, unless you have recurring subscription to a provider website, lol.
did you check the security tape?
Yes, someone at the hotel was probably in on it, otherwise the people with your card info would have probably been there when the cops showed up. Not a certainty, but highly probable. Call and cancel your card, then contact one of the credit agencies and report this to them so they can monitor/protect your credit score and potentially nail the user if they strike again for fraud/theft.
My Card has long since been canceled and a new number given to me. The hotel was VERY understanding about the whole situation (I suspect because they think it is their fault), and reversed the charges so my creditcard balance is where it should be.
I do you Bank of America by the way, good call on that one.
I was able to get a look at a print-off from a security camera. For such an upscale place I'd have assumed they'd have something better than grainy black and white video, unless it was in color and they just printed it that way.
I've been keeping my eyes open on Backpage for any gal that fits the picture and description.
I highly doubt this was a provider who did that.
It sounds like a younger gal who was getting her groove on with her boyfriend. She probably got the card number/name when you used it or bought it from someone.
I worked in the hotel industry and if you request a CD copy of what was caught on tape you should be able to get it. If there's a problem, ask the police officer who has been helping to request a copy and it'll be given to him right then and there. You'll be able to see a lot clearer who the person is. Casino's have the high security camera's, they can give you better access.
I was going to say 2 or more girls maybe sharing those rooms but reading it over a few times say someone on staff was probably in on it. Weird (good you won't be charged for the rooms though).
