Porn on the plane

As I have been traveling more recently, I have been struck by the movies in which people watch on the plane. I know that this is not a crowd that is prudish but I also know that for the most part, we have decency and manners.

On a recent flight, I noticed someone watching "Reservoir Dogs". I enjoyed this movie. I also enjoyed the porn parody (I am getting off topic). As many of you know that movie has many bloody scenes.

I observed someone watching "Reservoir Dogs" on their iPad so it was clearly visible to all.

What is appropriate to watch on a plane? What would you do if you were seated next to someone watching porn? What if you were seated next to someone watching porn and that person was seated next to a child?

As most of you know, I love porn but I would never expose it to minor and I would never expose it to someone who objected to it. I would ask someone seated next to me to not watch porn. I am not sure what I would do with R rated movies. If someone was seated next to a child, I would ask them to consider another movie option.

Curious as always.
I share your opinions and concerns. My response would largely be based on the actions of the childs guardian/parent. If they're the one watching the porn in front of the kid, not much you can do other than subtly let them know what an asshole you think they are. If guardian is not present or doesn't feel like they have enough options, I would offer to switch seats with someone to get the kid away.

Tough problems.....and a lot of folks have just lost their manners and don't know how to behave in public.
Anyone who would watch porn in front of a child needs to be smacked upside their head......hard.

Watching porn on a plane isn't something one should do. But, if that person chooses to watch an R rated movie like Reservior Dogs, you can't stop them. They're not forcing others to watch it and I don't think it would be visible to all if you watched it on your Ipad, unless you were holding it right against the back of the seat in front of you. Even then, only a few would be able to see it.

Violent content such as Reservoir Dogs I deem just as reprehensible as porn in front of children. The only thing good about the movie and children is it wouldn't hold a child's attention where porn will keep them watching or trying to sneak a peek.

I was on a flight from DFW to Seattle a couple years ago where some dude was watching porn on his iPad, A lady sitting near him complained to the flight attendant, who asked him to turn it off. He refused. So then the pilot came on and ordered everyone to turn off their electronic devices.

Watching porn on a plane is just bad form, no ifs ands or butts about it. I enjoy porn, but not in the public realm such as a plane.

As for other movies on a plane, I think if headphones are used (Bose noise cancelling are the bees knees!) and discretion is used regarding the rating, I don't see a problem with it. I agree with Ms E, if you show porn to a kid, you deserve to be bitch slapped.

So let me set the situation, we are on the luxurious Boeing 737-700 which has sets of 3 seats per row.

Mr. Pulp Fiction, which by all accounts is a great movie, pulls out his large ASUS tablet. This thing is 12". In high depth color, and an elderly genteel church going lady is seated to the right of Mr. Pulp Fiction.

The Gimp scene starts. Do some of you believe that the genteel church lady should avert her eyes?

Let me say in conclusion, that I don't believe that there is a right or wrong answer to this question. We will continue to need to further define what is public space and what is private space. What is appropriate and what is not. I applaud the captain for his action. I love me some porn but I have no interest in forcing that on others.

I am not looking for answers just looking for dialogue.
Watching Porn on a plane with a tablet is asking for further laws restricting porn. You have to respect others, and trying to force something that others don't like is asking for trouble, plus it is rude.
