I hate to break it to ya, but the "my phone got hacked/stolen" defense is about as useful in court as the "but he told me he wasn't a cop" defense. On the flip side, all phone service carriers now permanently store every text you send or receive. The only surefire way around this is to text from a Google Voice number over a wi-fi network. It's anyone's guess whether the phone companies store SMS sent by Google Voice over your phone's 3G or 4G data plan, but it's technically easy if they decide to. Assuming the carrier didn't simply block it, you could use an encrypted SMS app and all they'd store would be the gibberish of the cyphertext, but all your clients would need the same app installed to read your texts and what works on Andriod doesn't always work on iOS. Besides, I'm probably not alone in being unwilling to play spy games to reach an incall.
Ultimately, I think many providers are simply more confident texting than talking on the phone because it
feels more at arm's length and impersonal... and some are managed and would rather you not know it.
A person can have an address and GPS guidance doesn't always work the way it's supposed to. Often times it does, but without fail, Murphy and his Law come into the picture and screws even the best laid plans-up. GPS included.
