Yeah, it's like DeD said. LeBron is really a 3 with the ability to be a 4. His size, strength and versatility make him an excellent candidate for either position. If I had to go with a more traditional PF, I'd take Duncan.

^^^^ Melo is a pure shooter and one of the 10 best players in the NBA. He'd fit perfectly on Houston's roster. Acquire him and go to at least the Western Conference Finals next year.

The Rockets need another pure scorer but Melo isn't the answer. He doesn't make his teammates around him better. If he's Top 10 in today's NBA he's #10 at best, but I can name 10 players I'd take over him any day of the week.

Naming 10 players who are better than Melo is little more than an exercise in futility. Why list LeBron if he is not available? It's all subjective anyway!

What matters is whether those players are actually available. Of the players who are, I do not personally believe there are 10 better than Melo.

With that said, Melo is not my first or second choice among those available. Assuming we are not giving up Hardin or Howard, I believe he would make the Rockets a better team. That's all that really matters!

We need defense on the outside. Patrick Beverly made 2nd team all NBA defense. We still need another starter that can guard the perimeter, challenge outside shooters and take away passing lanes. James Harden isn't that guy but he made did make all NBA first team SG.

I gotta agree with 98% of your list of the greatest of all times at their positions.....Except at SF LeBron. Man, no way that guy should be mentioned in the same breath as Bird, Dr J (revolutionized the game), Elgin Baylor, ect. Hell, I'm not sure he's the best SF forward in the game RIGHT now. Many will make a case that goes to Kevin Durant and he's gaining on LeBron every year and he's 4 years younger.
