Hagglers - what is it they really want?

Ladies, I really do not understand why a provider would get offended by our asking if they offer any specials, but some do get offended, and some very easily.

I was ready to book an appointment with a well known provider that I had admired from a far for a long time, finally got pre-screened, and as soon as I asked if she offered any specials, she got a case of GPS, said she didn't negotiate her rates and that she was offended that I asked. Really ? Offended ? By what exactly ?

All she had to say is no, she did not offer any specials, and ask do I still want to book with her. It kind of kills the mood if she gets all worked up and tell me how offended she is.

We are not necessarily saying that you are not worth what you are asking, we are just wanting a value for our investment of time and money, just as you are.

To all of the pretty and truly wonderful ladies, I would love to meet with you, but please don't take us so seriously. We just want a bit of GFE, and at a good value. Originally Posted by texanguy01

That is a perfectly legitimate, polite question, asking about specials. I get such requests frequently, and am happy to respond. Most of the time there is a Fancy package that will suit the gentleman. Human nature to seek out the best value for the hard-earned buck.

That is not haggling. Haggling is when, right off the bat, someone names the price that HE is willing to pay for whatever reason, even if nowhere close to the stated amount, and insinuates that the service or product is only worth what he is willing to shell out.

Haggling is also when a guy arrives after booking a much longer amount of time and then wants to whittle his appointment down to however much cash he brought with him, usually far short of what he agreed upon originally.

In the Hobby, both are disrespectful, and the second is no different than shorting the lady. She put aside that specific amout of time for the fellow when she might have accepted another reservation.

Appears from this thread that haggling, negotiating, and asking about specials is all being talked about in the same breath, and they shouldn't be. Three different sentences in a larger paragraph.

Johanna has a point though. But everyone is looking for a sale and a deal weather they are Europeans, Asians, latins and americans. Please forgive me if you are not. Honestly the beautiful Latin or hispanic ladies of the agencies or the indies have spoiled the houston. The ratio of pleasure over dollar is very high and consistent. And of course the entourage from Dallas has also raised the provider bar very high quality for service. The high dollars fit in when no one is available. But please do not haggle but move on. When demand is low cost calibration takes place, that is the law of economics.

I wasn't ranting, my dear, just making some points that reflect upon the experience of many ladies in my usual rather facetious manner. I wasn't defending MY rates in any way. Did I even bring them up in the post? Nope, so I fail to see the necessity of the above.

You'll note, if you did all this research, that I have reviews on MANY websites. (Surely you don't think that all of the gentlemen who visit me are just on ECCIE?) And by the way, most fellows I see, most fellows ANY provider sees, do not review. However, if we must debate MY rates, I just RECENTLY standardized them between all the various sites I advertise on to match my website. (Which has always been considerably higher,) That seemed to be a common note of confusion, different rates on different websites, so I made everything simple. You'll even find some ECCIE posts where I warned people that I was doing it, and noted it in my showcase for a while. (You spent a lot of time looking at my rates in reviews, but evidently not much noticing that they changed not long ago.) Until then, I did ask ECCIE members for $200/hour, $300/3 hrs, and so on. I do run specials, I reward those who have been coming to see me for quite some time, and I will make amends when I have to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances beyond my control by giving a fellow a break. Which providers give discounts when they reschedule? The nice ladies, but they are not numerous.

Plenty of non-ECCIE members have paid my full rate. Do not use a few reviews to represent my entire clientele. I've been giving ECCIE fellows a break for years, and still do because I frequently run specials here that I do not advertise anywhere else because I believe that membership should have its privileges. My reviews will probably always represent rates lower than what the public pays me, as most gents contacting me from other sites are not "true" Hobbyists. You know, I run enough specials here (as evidenced by your above research) that HECK YES, I still find haggling offensive, especially since it is frequently done by a newbie who has not been screened, has no refs, and yet wants at least a $50 break when he has done nothing to merit one. Not supposed to talk about money up front, remember? Red Flag?

Downside to asking about any specials..
1) if she has them and she thinks you have not researched online, she can say "NO" and get full price when the special is in place.

2) Same as above but he HAS done the research and he is checking.. if she says "NO" then some drama is about to happen.

Bottom line.. RESEARCH the lady first! if she has a special, you can ask on the phone in a nice manner.. if she acts all ignorant to her posted specials then do not go see her.

if you do go see her, and she says she forgot to take the special down. turn around and walk out.. even if she tells you she will honor it, keep on walking.

Very well said, Caligula. When our appointment book is empty and our marketing resources exhausted, that is a clear indicator that we should lower the price and adjust to the new trend in demand. But for as long as the demand at our asking rate is sufficient to make a comfortable profit, the price of our service will and should remain the same.

I thank everyone who has responded to this thread. Many of you offered some very good points of view and plenty to consider. This hobby/business is unlike any other, and your opinions have helped me to understand it a little better.
