That's not because of Tariffman's tariff plan, tho

90 deals in 90 days is dead. The one-ish deal isn't even finalized. Lot of punting by the U.S. and uncertainty making it hard for businesses to make solid, informed decisions

And due to the TACO principle we know Wall Street is trying to ignore more of Trump's bluster because he'll backtrack bigly multiple times. The reactions are less visceral because most folks now think he's just posturing and has no intent to do all the dumb shit he said he was going to do.

Our economy is good in spite of Tariffman's plans, not because of them.

This is good news for firms such as British Steel which was brought under government control as it struggled to stay operational.
However, the White House said it would impose a quota on the "most favoured nation rates for UK steel and aluminium and certain derivative steel and aluminium products."
It is currently unclear how much of these products the UK will be able to export to the US under this quota system without paying more.
It is also unclear whether the scrapping of tariffs will apply to steel derivative products and whether only steel melted and poured in the UK will benefit.
The UK exports a relatively small amount of steel and aluminium to the US, about £700m in total.
However, the tariffs also cover products made with steel and aluminium, including things such as gym equipment, furniture and machinery.
These are worth much more, about £2.2bn, or about 5% of UK exports to the US last year.
Industry body Steel UK said there were "a number hoops to jump through before the UK steel sector can see the benefits of this deal".
It said firms needed to know what supply chain conditions need to be met, what the quotas are and when they take effect.

That's from before the 50% announcement, that didn't state it was exempting British steel.

And there's no signed agreement

But they weren’t sending much virgin steel here anyways. But tarriffs are still on steel and aluminum byproducts. GB has no choice, they have to sign a deal. They need us more than we need them. Especially after Trump negotiated a deal between Nippon/USS. 50% steel tariffs will go into effect 6/4. The target is China, not GB. China’s been dumping cheap steel here for decades. But you rarely scratch deeper than the surface.

Pro Tip, when you go antiquing in Charleroi with your lady, wear MAGA hats. You’ll get the white glove treatment in the Mon Valley. USS is back.

That’s called winning Mr Gristle. Nothing “disjointed” about it. They’re begging for a deal.

Thanks for playing.

Your concept of begging is deliciously cattywampus.

Guess that deal wasn't a deal after all and I was right
