Solid take on why Trump's tariff math doesn't work
HDGristle's Avatar
Stocks’ recent behavior is in stark contrast to their dramatic spring sell-off in the wake of April’s “Liberation Day” speech. Investor reaction was so intense that Trump instituted a 90-day pause to reconsider what was set to be a cornerstone of his second administration’s economic policy.

Today, Trump’s focus on tariffs hasn’t abated — but he has dialed back the more maximalist tariff levels he initially outlined. Combined with signs of a shakier labor market, investors are more convinced that the Fed will err on the side of supporting the economy by lowering interest rates to support overall business activity.

The performance of the stock market itself isn’t a full picture of the broader economy, however. Instead, the gains of the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq increasingly reflect the outsized returns of a handful of tech companies that investors believe will reap massive gains from their investments in artificial intelligence technology.
I found this relevant since it keeps being asked and people keep pointing to the records.

Trump Tariffs may push Arizona Iced Tea to raise its iconic 99 cent price and harm the aluminum industry they claim to be trying to save

The PS5 will see a price hike thanks to tariffs.

Much more to come.
Many people do not understand tariffs.

President Trump does.

The FAKE news and President Trump’s enemies seek advantage to attack him by misrepresenting the reason for and impact of tariffs.

How did our country generate much of its revenue before the unlawful imposition of income taxes???

Over time, the citizens of our nation will benefit greatly from the External Revenue Service.

Have we benefited from the Internal Revenue Service???

Tariffs have had a very consistent history of cause and effect. Stagflation is the final outcome, slow to no growth w elevated inflation which ties the hands of policy makers and is almost impossible to break except for a good old fashioned war … or just waiting it out for a lost decade or two.

There are plenty of much wealthier and polished billionaires much richer and more business savvy than Trump, they all know he’s a buffoon w regards to business and financial knowledge.

Let’s hope this all is just some reasonable bullying and not just tariffing everybody for the sake of being the biggest bully on the street. This guy doesn’t understand the difference between trade imbalance/deficits and actual tariffs. He doesn’t realize online content which USA dominates is actually trade surplus revenue to a tune of 600 bil a year. Watching Warren Buffett try and keep a straight face not to slam trumps tariffs was quite a watch, it’s a huge tax on American public and trumps assertion the market crash is Biden fault is just plain funny.

Here’s hoping he’s playing the game to bring countries to the table but until he actually learns the difference between tariffs and deficits, countries won’t bow down to give their kids away per say, they will do a work around with each other and avoid USA everything.

Hoover, Jimmy Carter and trumpy all going the same trail except Trump is turbo charging tariffs. I’m sure prices will be dropping any day now. Originally Posted by nomad1000!

By 2012 they added $4 Trillion into the system.

You can read about it here,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantitative_easing but don't hang this shit on trump. If anything, he is the only one with some sense to try to fix things after this disastrous decade and a half of nonsense. If anything, he shou8ld have dealt with this in 2016 but the treasonists did their best to hobble the presidency because they were butthurt that Hildabeast was so hated that even a $1.5 billion dollar campaign couldn't get her over the finish line. Fun fact: Kamala was even more hated and they spent over $2. billion on her and still lost, lol

Vanity comes with a tariff too.

Talk about fucking an entire group by proxy- black women might want their own hate network against this 99.9% white administration on this principle alone.

Even Fox recognized that Tariffman's tariff tantrums are pushing allies into the arms of adversaries.

Guess we can call him the great uniter for helping to defrost relations between 2 of our biggest trading partners with massive markets.

Interesting information about how Walmart is trying to lessen the impact of Trump's tariffs. A lot of the avoidance strategy we mentioned months ago is involved. The supply chain diversification they are using is not something that can be easily replicated
