I aam seeing YouTube videos that claim that several of Canada's western Provences actually want to leave Canada and be annexed bye the USA.

But that is YouTube, so . . . . Originally Posted by ICU 812

"A lot" of people certainly aren't saying that. These anecdotal statements don't mean shit, are only intended to continue the shit-stirring.

Speaking of....after major outcry from Greenland et al for Trump to STOP stirring shit, he went and did it again during the bullshit meeting he had with Oil Execs, saying cool things like "If we don't do it the easy way, we're going to do it the hard way."

.
Is this clear enough?

"We don't want to be Americans, we don't want to be Danes, we want to be Greenlanders," Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and four party leaders said in a statement Friday night.

Statehood for Greenland?

Anybody bothering asking Greenland if they want US statehood?

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., is introducing a bill on Monday aimed at authorizing Trump "to take such steps as may be necessary" to acquire Greenland and set it on the pathway of becoming part of the United States.

"I think it is in the world's interest for the United States to exert sovereignty over Greenland," Fine told Fox News Digital in an interview.

"Congress would still have to choose to make it a state, but this would simply authorize the president to do what he's doing and say the Congress stands behind him. And then it would expedite it into becoming a state, but it would still be up to Congress about whether to do that."

Why does Trump want Greenland?
It's '“Psychologically important to him'....<rolleyes>
I guess it's part of his "own morality".

"Why is ownership important here?" Times national security correspondent David E. Sanger asked.

"Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success," Trump, 79, replied. "I think that ownership gives you a thing that you can’t do, whether you’re talking about a lease or a treaty. Ownership gives you things and elements that you can’t get from just signing a document, that you can have a base."

White House correspondent Katie Rogers — whom Trump recently called "ugly, both inside and out" for writing a story about his age — chimed in to ask, "Psychologically important to you or to the United States?"

“Psychologically important for me," Trump answered. "Now, maybe another president would feel differently, but so far I’ve been right about everything."
Right about everything? Like these recent examples?
- China has no windmills

- Tariffs will pay down debt
- Dividend to moderate income Patriots
- had an MRI...uh no a CT..uh no a 'scan'
- Ukraine launched an attack on Putin’s residence
- 400%, 500%, eve 1500% off medication costs
- "Windmills are killing all of our beautiful bald eagles!”
- Our country was being invaded by an army of 25 million people.”
- inflation was the worst in the history of our country
- they're eating the cats/dogs/pets
- “We’re the only one in the whole world that uses mail in votes"
- people as old as 150 years old are fraudulently receiving Social Security benefits

Because he wants to do what he normally does, break a deal that has been in place over 100 years.

He thinks he can treat the world like contractors: let them do the work than no pay them.

i'm wondering if America can say with a straight face that Greenland is our's because we are simply exerting hegemony in our proper geographic sphere of influence as the #1 superpower in the Americas, how could we criticize Russia for taking Ukraine-assuming they have sufficient power-or China from taking Taiwan? or is that Trump's new tradeoff in the so-called Donroe Doctrine?

i can see he's ready to dump NATO, a terrible idea by the way, over Greenland. but the logical implication is he sees the "great powers" as perfectly able-without objection-to take our allies, so long as those allies are in the backyards of the great powers like Russia and China.

ironically, if you take a real politik approach, Greenland is a project with a 50-100 year payoff. losing Taiwan would cause catastrophic harm today, as Taiwan produces the most advanced chips in the world, for AI and the military, among many other critically-important uses. so you take a frozen tundra that will be productive in 50-100 years in exchange for losing one of the greatest present U.S. assets (through a mutually beneficial partnership) in the world today. how is that good policy?

or does Trump say, we take Greenland because we can. and we keep Taiwan out of China's hands, because we can. and we make sure Ukraine gets a fair deal, because we can.

i'm trying to see Trump's end game here. because taking Greenland while surrendering Taiwan makes no sense whatever.

there's a reason why Greenland-1.5 times the size of Alaska-has a population of 57,000 people, and neither a fossil fuel industry nor a minerals extraction industry at the present time. neither are currently practical, and both are extremely long-term projects. if he takes Greenland by force as opposed to purchase or negotiation, exactly what have we given up in exchange, in addition to losing NATO, which is alone catastrophic enough?

I stated over 100 years.

Stop trying to misdirect. Denmark was gracious to let us use the place. You know, that territory that we traded the soverignty (sp) of another territory OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AGO.

Your orange baby is pouting and wants to treat Denmark like one of his contractors and sucker out of the deal.
