As far, as NOLA goes I think the best food in the city is either Maximos or Irenes. I concur with Dilbert on Mothers. Over-priced and over-rated. Best place for a hangover, Elizabeths. It's a little off the radar, but their brunch is some serious artery-hardening, lunch at your grandmas southern goodness. Also, a little cafe in the Bywater, Satsumas, seriously has some of the best food in NOLA. Little funky place, owners are super conscious about buying local, and damn, it shows. Food is super fresh and tastes like sunshine. Very, very creative specials. They have only been around about 2 years, but they have gotten alot of press in that time, always glowing. Bachannals is also super cool. Funky wine bar with a great slipshod outside patio replete with christmas lights hanging overhead. Always reminds me of someone's backyard. Jazz played after 5 and they have a visiting chef from one of the city's five star restaurants every Sunday eveing. Always fun! Wow. I really love to eat
