While I can't say I really expected a win in Indianapolis yesterday, the Chiefs' performance against San Francisco had me hoping.
The Good
Romeo Crennel's defense--holding the Colts to 19 points at home in a game that meant much more to Indy than to KC is a major accomplishment. The disgusted expression on Manning's face every time he came off the field was priceless. This secondary may end up being better than Lewis-Ross-Cherry-Burress. Pity it was wasted.
The Bad
Dwayne Bowe--lacks the primary requirement for a receiver: the ability to catch the damn ball!
Matt Cassel--Did Josh McDaniel really want this guy in Denver? And had to settle for Kyle Orton? Really?
The Ugly
Todd Haley's gambles--Look, I'm not really criticizing here. I like the fact that Haley coaches to win the game, not just delay losing (Herm Edwards, anyone?). When Sean Payton started the second half of the Super Bowl with an onside kick, it was brilliant, gutsy, creative, and thrilling. Why? It worked. I want Haley to take gambles occasionally, especially in games the Chiefs aren't supposed to win. I just want better execution.
