BREAKING NEWS GOV RICK PERRY INDICTED

Another insightful retort, Junior. What goes around does come around. Perry's chickens have come home to roost. The shoe is on the other foot. Any more deep political thought you can add to this discussion? oh yeah, personal attacks. You got some more of those, Junior? OUCH! Originally Posted by Yssup Rider

What the prosecutors are trying ought to disturb everyone, regardless of party.

He has the power as governor to veto the budget times involved, for whatever reason he chooses.

He engaged in normal politicking. The solution to that is more politicking - like overriding his veto. Or threatening to pass some other bill he does not like.

The solution is NOT felony charges.

Questoin - when is veto threat NOT coercion? Originally Posted by ExNYer

Perry is accused of using his veto authority to coerce a publicly elected official into leaving office. And when the veto threat, and later the actual exercise of the veto didn't work, he tried a bit of bribery, which is why he is facing criminal charges.

Not because he exercised his constitutional veto authority. Originally Posted by BigLouie

What are you talking about? Is there another updated indictment?

How is THAT for a stupid, weak case?

Doing it is OK. Saying you're going to do it is criminal.

And your comparisons to Nixon are weak. Perry didn't threaten to veto the budget unless the office stopped investigating him.

He threatened to veto it if ONE person - not the whole office - did not resign. And that one person was clearly guilty of drunk driving and abusing the police that arrested her.

While true, the way he went about it has caused quite a bit of blowback on him as well it should in my book.

Typical democrat tactics trying to turn Texas blue. Perry is indicted for abuse of power, and yet Obama is still walking around free?
The Governor of Texas, or any state for that matter, can veto whatever they want, whenever they want, for whatever reason they see fit. The voters of the state gave him that power when they elected him to office for a record 14 years. Just because the drunken liberals in Austin don't like it doesn't change the law. This will probably never see the inside of a courtroom.
Being indicted by a corrupt system is a badge of honor.

The reason Special Prosecutor McCrum was appointed was due to Rosemary Limburgh has previously recused herself, for obvious reasons.

That does not sound like the resume of a "political hack."
