This is Not the Boy's Locker Room

For the record, I'm a Libertarian. I defend your right to say what you want. I just wonder why some people want to say stuff like that here.

If they were a big boy, they'd go to the local bar and call the male strangers in the bar the same things. I don't guess they've done that yet because I haven't seen their broken bodies on the local news.

Free speech is only free until you have to defend it. Originally Posted by drax1

What I see is some macho bullshit "say that to my face punk" type bravado disguised as white knighting. You're not wondering why, you're suggesting they stop because you don't like the fact that you or someone else can't punch them in the mouth for doing it.

I don't appreciate the Ellen show. I don't watch it.

I don't like the smell or taste of sea food. I don't eat it.

I don't like smoke. I don't play with fire or hang around providers who like to smoke.

Do you get it? You have a CHOICE not a RIGHT.

Are you familiar with the U.S. constitution and the amendments? There is nothing that says YOU have a right to be on a hooker board.

Now to the topic. Sticks, stones and bullets may break me, but WORDS really can't do anything if you don't read them!
dayum NaN lol...

why threads like this never work, just like Ol Ho's rants, is because the very ones that complain about things, are also the ones that are doing the exact same thing.

What I an saying is it isn't cool to bully defenseless people on the internet just because you feel anonymous. Your reaction is exactly the point I'm making. There are some standards which you feel are important to defend even though I was exercising my free speech to make a point. There are some things that just shouldn't be said free speech or not. I think we all agree on that now.

Here's the tall and short of it..... it is an adult board, with adult content that is predicated on free speech... people are assholes in real life.... keyboard jocky's or not.... You say people wouldn't act this way in person, I say they would... it would just take longer for it to come out maybe is all....

Next someone will be offended by hearing some guy asking a girl to "suck his fucking dick, slut!"..... OFFENSIVE ain't it!?!

Who is defenseless, and what does that mean here on this hooker board?

are they less equipped intellectually? technologically? economically? uber-sensitive by nature?

Also, I find it curious that a post directed toward asshole male members of this community was posted in the coed section not the men's lounge. Could it be that your goal is twofold? One, to right the wrongs (as you see them) of the internets. And two, to show all the ladies what a chivalrous knight you are.

But alas, your misogyny was too thinly veiled in the first place. Don't you know by now that most women aren't wilting wallflowers? No one needs you defending their honor.

Edit: lol others beat me to it I see, I concur with my esteemed associates above

I guess it's clear none of are really for free speech and freedom of expression unless we agree with such.

I have no hidden agenda here SpiceitUp. I put the thread here so women could express their opinion. I am no White Knight. I don't have any guilt complex, but I do value your input.

This thread has run-a-muck. We aren't discussing things the way we should. Everyone is half cocked. That's my fault really. I should have let the thread die yesterday. Think it might be time to let it go. Peace!

I think it's great that Eccie errs on the side of free speech. I've moderated several on-line communities over the years, and always believed that when in doubt, let folks do as they wish.

At the same time I think it's pathetic that there are guys here who use it as an excuse to behave in such a hateful manner, simply because their behavior is tolerated.

In any real-world community, members have the power to adjust the attitudes of assholes. (To test this theory, I'd suggest that some of the members of the bad attitude brigade head to any working class bar, and use some of the language that's considered acceptable here, directed at a guy's date. Yes, you have the right to use those terms, but your acts will have consequences.

Eccie doesn't enforce consequences for this sort of assholish behavior, at least in the Houston forums.

But Eccie isn't a free speech zone. For example, Eccie won't tolerate discussion of drugs, or children, or medical conditions, or excessive advertising. So "free speech" is a misnomer here. The owners have no problem restricting your speech when it suits them.

So it's not a matter of free speech. It's a matter of some things being across the line to Eccie ownership, and other things being acceptable.
