I worked my ass off when I was working in a corporate office. My new job is related to research. It's a lot slower, and definitely not essential, but as long as the government doesn't shut down, I should be good. My plan is to use my extra free time and my little research contract to study and learn new skills and methods to get a better job in maybe 1 or 2 years, which will probably be a lot more demanding but I want to make more money so ... however, the corporate job I had was 10 times more demanding and I wasn't making more money ... so there's that too.
