is there any chance the Cowboys lose Sunday? the Giants have been horrible, I can't imagine where they would summon up the ability to pull off an upset..

And the Raiders beat KC last night.... WTF? Proving that anything can happen, and nothing is a given. But we should beat the Giants hands down.

Well Dallas is very healthy. Only one player of the 53 man squad will not suit up on Sunday against the Giants......Tyler Patmon because of his knee. The rest are well rested and have gone through full practices this week. Well all except Romo. He has skipped the Wed practice all year to give his back another day of rest.

Giants are another story. They have a lot of injuries.

Dallas is planning on arriving back in Dallas at about 4:45 Mday morning. Weather In New Jersey is upper 40s-lower 50s for the game. Maybe rain at the end of the game. Dallas has a workout schedules at 4 pm on Monday.

Personally I don't see anything wrong or difficult about the Chicago game. It is one week after the Philly game on Turkey Thursday. Then Dallas gets the long week to get ready for Philly up in Philly. Then Indy and Washington on normal Sundays.

Before the season, I had Dallas at 7-3 by the bye......but I had them beating Wash and losing to Seattle. After the bye I had them 3-3....beating Giants, Eagles and Washington and losing to Eagles, Bears and Colts.........for a 10-6 record. But now I think Dallas might just go 5-1 or 6-0........I think Dallas can/should beat all but maybe the Colts.

Arizona has a killer schedule......2 against Seattle and single games against Rams, 49ers, Falcons and the Chiefs. Without Palmer and with the other injuries....how many can they win?

Sanchez was lucky against Carolina....beginners luck, but he is really piss poor QB and it will show.

The Colts don't have a run defense for shit, though. Murray, Randle, and Dunbar should combine for 200 against those guys. People like the Colts because they like cheering for Luck, but overall, they've beaten some scrubs and have taken hard 'L's from the better teams (Broncos, Steelers, Pats).

It's possible that they'll have the AFC South wrapped up by then, and probably won't be in position to take a higher seed given that they've lost to other division leaders, so it's possible that they could take the Cowboys game a little less serious.

The 2 games in 3 weeks that Dallas and Philly will play vs one another will boil down to the same blueprint every coach / team rallies around: (a) which defense can pressure the other's QB and (b) can that pressure result in turnovers?

This much we know: the Iggles will turn the ball over....in fact, they lead the league in that stat. On the flipside, they also lead the NFL in defensive / special teams scoring (in 11 games they've scored 70 points....that's amazing). Two weeks ago the Packers blitzed Sanchez into submission (while not turning the ball over themselves) and the result was a complete and total beat down in Green Bay. Can Dallas replicate this game plan? Again...quarterback pressure is the key (something the Cowboys still haven't figured out yet).

If Dallas doesn't turn the ball over to Philly that's a great start to getting their 9th victory. Secondly, if the Boys can keep Sanchez "in the pocket", sooner or later he's going to cough up the ball. If he gets outside the pocket, oddly enough, he's very effective throwing downfield.

By the way.....this game will mark the two year anniversary of the famous Mark Sanchez "butt fumble" on Thanksgiving Day (vs the Patriots). While we might not see anything close to that guffaw (OR that incredible catch by Odell Beckham Sunday evening), these two teams have enough firepower to produce plenty of excitement tomorrow.

Look for both offenses to be very aggressive tomorrow.....both teams know that neither one's defense is all that great in the first place.....both QB's will be counted on to exploit their opponent's defense (that is playing on a short week. That fact will come into play).

There will definitely be "tired legs" out there and come second half of the game, the advantage will belong to the offenses. Plenty of points may be scored come the 4th quarter.

No matter the outcome, the Iggles will need to get back home and regroup in a hurry......an angry and surging Seahawks team comes to town followed by Dallas / Philly Part 2.

After that Eagles have Washington and Giants for last two games and Dallas has Colts and Washington. I may have to change my assessment of Washington. They have benched RGIII in favor of Colt McCoy.

McCoy is a very serious football player. I have followed him since his high school days at Tuscola (Buffalo Gap, southwest of Abilene). His dad was his coach. He went to UT on a football scholarship and was really expected to just be a scout team quarterback. He was red shirted his freshman year. That was Vince Young's junior year and national championship year. Colt was 4th string. Young went to the NFL early, the other two qbs were seniors and graduated and left Coy as top dog. UT did have a hot recruit that was supposed to take over the starting job as a true freshman.....but he never beat out Colt. McCoy went on to start 53 games as quarterback at UT (a record) and won 45 of them. (a record)

He never really got a chance in the pros till this year. He was drafted in 3rd round by Cleveland. They had no team around him. Then he was traded to SF for a year and signed as a free agent at Washington this year. If they stick with him, he may be both the Eagles and Cowboys the last two weeks.... he is a very hard working intelligent guy.

It was certainly not a very good game to watch today. Da Boys looked pretty tired and lethargic today. Always about a step behind. They get a normal week to get ready for the Bears. I hope it is a better game.

DECEMBER 2014

Well....here we are.

It's that time of the year when (some) NFL Football teams begin making a run. Now if you've taken care of business the first 3 months of the season to position yourself for getting a play off slot, this is now your time: Nut up and you get in. Or....crack....fall out of the standings....and begin making those early vacation plans.

The Cowboys' Hot Start on this season (6-1) has taken a couple of hits lately as they sit currently at 8-4. Oh, by the way, all four defeats are "conference losses".....when calculating playoff tie breakers, that stat bodes badly for Da Boys.

The schedule ahead for the Cowboys is basically this: 3 of their final 4 games are away from home. Considering they're a less-than-stellar 3-4 at AT&T, perhaps this is a good thing. They're currently undefeated, 5-0, on the road and that is a trend that needs to continue if they're to have any hopes of playing in January.

Interestingly enough, this week's game (Week 14) coincides exactly with last year's schedule ....following up this past week's Black Thursday (some might call it the Thanksgiving Day game vs Philadelphia) is a repeat visit to a chilly (and possibly snowy) Soldier Field in Chicago. Last year, while administering a 45-28 beat down, back up QB Josh McCown threw for 348 yds in that game as the Bears scored touchdowns on five consecutive possessions in the second half....and in the process, the Chicago punter never saw the field once the entire game.

If that's not enough for you to raise an eyebrow or two in doubt, Jerry's Boys will then play road games against two teams (NFC East rivals, Skins and Iggles) that recently came to Dallas and thoroughly thumped you.

Oh....and sandwiched in all of that will be the only remaining home game versus one of the NFL's brightest new stars, Indy Colts qb Andrew Luck.....who has been reeling off 300+ yard and multi-touchdown passing games all season long.

I'm not a "Half-Full Glass" kinda guy....usually I'm looking for that silver-lining, glimmer of hope no matter the odds and obstacles.....however, if last Thursday's performance vs Philly was any kind of an indication of what lies ahead, the Cowboys could be seeing the Ghost of Christmas Past once again.

I think they split these final four and settle in at 10-6. While that would be more than sufficient to win the putrid NFC South, it's quite possible that mark will not be good enough to secure a wild card slot. Dallas (and Romo, in particularly) will then be criticized once again for not being clutch and folding up their tent in December. The East Coast pundits in particular will be the first to start this never-ending "fire storm" (as they've all grown weary lately of complaining about the Giants and the Jets).

Now, all they have to do is win their final 2 games to retain the #3 seed. They cannot get #2 due to their conference wins, but if they lose one of the final two games, they may be on the outside looking in as all the teams ahead of them have a better conference record so they will lose any and all tiebreakers to all other possible playoff teams. The only exception would be Green Bay if they lose at home to Detroit in their finale (not likely) to get that #6 seed. Record against like opponents, DAL 4-1 GB 3-2. And that loss needs to be against Indy, not Washington AND only if the tie is against the Packers to have that chance at the #6 seed and go back to Philly for the wild card round.

So basically, it may be division winner or no playoffs.

Not sure what your definition of "regular" is.....mine is you do it more often than not. At least 51% of the time...at the very least.

That said, out of 5 Super Bowl appearances under Tom Landry, the Cowboys went 2-3.
