Odds on Trump's Impeachment

There is no reason Russia and America can't get along. Russians are good people too. It would be great if we got along with the Russians. We weren't hearing anything about it until the loss. Scapegoat

Are you talking about Obama having Trump tower wire tapped? I guess he can cover his bases by having his spokesman say, "Obama didn't order it." It doesn't mean he wasn't aware and directly behind it. How about all the current leaks? Who is behind that? Obama made it so what was once available to only one agency became available to nearly 17 agencies less than a month before leaving office. Why? To make it harder to trace the leaks. It is disgraceful that Obamas agenda was to establish a global economy rather than to put America 1st. It's about time someone like Trump stepped in. Blame it on the rain, blame it on the sky, but don't blame it on the Russians for Trumps victory.

No, but clearly you want to. It's a DOJ thing, not a president thing. But, yes, he would have to remain apprised, as POTUS, on these matters. But no such order exists. Unless you know something we don't?

Trump supporters are behind him 100%, not 100% of Americans. Why does it surprise you that there are leaks? And why are you opposed to transparency? In America?

I get that you hate Obama, but he's not president any more. The reason Trump made it this far is because he was voted in. The Russians can hack emails and plant trolls and do whatever else they may or may not have done, but they can't influence people who care about the truth. His voters get the blame for his presidency. Trump gets the blame for being a pathological liar and a con. Not Obama or Hillary or Democrats or the left. Where there is smoke, there is fire. I can assure you, this would not go unchecked if anyone else had won the election.
So the left is making it all up because they lost. Originally Posted by Vivienne Rey

Let's talk about what we actually know
1. The Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton were hacked. Many of the emails that came out were damning and showed the hypocrisy of the democratic leadership and Hillary Clinton.
2. We don't know for sure who performed these attacks.
3. We did hear from director comey that Russian spies were
Involved more than they had ever seen in our election process. They couldn't say for sure if they were trying to help one candidate or another. They couldn't even say if they influenced the outcome of the election.

IMO if Russia helped expose Hillary Clinton and the democratic leadership we should all send them a thank you card.

Supporting leaks at the highest level of government is what we call treason. its not transparency if it jealpordizes our national security. We shouldn't pretend we know all the information. We certainly don't. All the leaks do is tell a desired narrative. It's more spin

The hate for Russia is unwarranted. Who won ww2? The USA, England and Russia. We would have been hard pressed to win without Russia and they lost millions upon millions. We ought to respect them and make them partners

This is a purely emotional and subjective assessment. And Trump won on purely emotional appeal.

Have you been to Greece lately? It's bankrupt and crowded AF. How is that for open borders?
Our borders are not "open". We have to improve the immigration system, yes. But if Greece is a sign of things to come for you, how is Trump's malevolence and defiant disregard for the truth not also a warning?

The Obama agenda was never about America first. It was peace through surrender. Surrender our economy, border, military.
The data tells a very different story. I'm going to assume you haven't actually bothered to look it up, which would be disgraceful enough given all that is at stake, but at least you wouldn't be outright turning your back to it. Right?

Peope voted For Trump because ironically they saw in him the hope that they didn't get with Obama.
Clearly.

It's working too. Check your stocks.
It's no shocker that the stock market reflects the same confidence that was placed in Trump to begin with. But if you actually examined the numbers, you will find that the greatest increase took place within the Wall Street stocks, most notably Goldman-Sachs. Non-financial stocks rose only slightly. Confidence in a lie is sure to meet an unfortunate and painful end.

Check the job count in his first month in office
Do you have those numbers? I haven't actually seen them. But the unemployment rate went from 10% in 2009 to 4.6% in 2016. What can you reasonably expect from Trump in 30 days though? Seriously. How much of a sustained and measurable impact, plus or minus, can he actually have in a month? Let's not canonize him just yet.

So you acknowledge the confirmation that the Russians did, in fact, interfere. Yet, the left is "spinning" and "The Democratic Party is full of the biggest shit talkers in the country" and "smoke and mirrors". You can't have it both ways, Fishy.

What we DO know is that Putin ordered a heavy campaign to get Trump into office. This has been confirmed by the offices of the DNI and DHS, with an official report and testimony. Pages 7 and 8 of "Key Judgments" in the assessment lay out all the ways they did it, not the least of which is disinformation and the dissemination of fake news. What does it say that he knew he could get you folks to believe it?

Now, be honest, Fishy. Do you think Trump had no idea any of this was happening?

I don't think Obama was trying to destroy our country. I think he did his honest best and his objectives were just different than what I wanted to see. He did a good job in many regards. There were some shortcomings as there is with every president.

The heart of the issue here is globalisation and national sovereignty. Why would Russia rather have Trump get elected?
He is a nationalist and not a globalist. Russia wants to maintain their culture. Notice that the United States is one of the most open countries in the world.
Is a Global economy and globalisation an eventual outcome? Yes it probably is.
Does it mean the end of national identity and sovereignty? Yes
This is the big picture. This is a fight for the very existence of our Country. Russia may have done the USA a big favour. America first.

Human decency is not politics. There is no spin there. But I'm aware it's a reference to the left. My point is it takes no real effort to parrot what everyone else is saying. If the most one can come up with is that they're sore losers, it's an intellectually lazy argument. The election isn't a Cowboys game full of people in cute colors cheering on their team and sulking when they lose. It's a pretty big deal. And it requires a hefty amount of respect for the truth to do it honorably, no matter what side you're on. Originally Posted by Vivienne Rey

Lol...people. You can't rational with a trump hugger. I'm sure the Russians are great people just like the majority of Americans. It's the leader in charge or leader that wants to be in charge that I have problems with. They will both be more wealthy though when it's all said and done....maybe :-)

With that said: what is the only thing that is more important than MONEY, no it's not pussy, it's HEALTHCARE. I can't believe that the most powerful and richest nation in the WORLD, can't figure that out.

When and why did Russia become an enemy of the USA?

To be certain, there have been times when the Russians and the Americans have been enemies, just as there have been times they have been allies.
I would not classify the relationship of the two nations (excluding the aspirations of politicians and the governments of the two) not as Enemies, but as Rivals. This rivalry between the two nations has had positive and negative effects on culture, politics, science, and economics for the entire world and has shaped more than 50 years of world history.

Generally, there were some feelings of mutual unease between Russia and the United States even prior to the Russian Revolution. The Russo-Japanese War, for example, was brought to an end through a negotiation lead by American President Theodore Roosevelt. While the negotiations were quite even-handed, considering the fact that the Russians had been utterly thrashed on land and sea by the Japanese, some resentment of the American involvement in the treaty remained amongst the Russian Aristocracy.

Nine years after the Russo-Japanese War, World War 1 began. It was a nightmarish tangle of alliances and treaties that set off a chain-reaction of European nations trying to figure out who they were declaring war on, and then an even more awful hell of stagnant trench warfare. The Americans attempted to remain aloof of the "European War" until German U-boats began sinking American ships, leading to an eventual declaration of war against Germany. Russia, on the other hand was allied with Serbia, and when Austro-Hungary and Prussia (Germany) declared war on Serbia, Russia jumped in to the conflict, both feet firmly landing on the Imperial German/Austro-Hungarian's necks. The Eastern Front became a titanic slugging match between the German speaking nations and the Russian Empire.

Thanks in part to several centuries of regressive, and terribly repressive rule, and more immediately to the simply dreadful mismanagement of the Imperial Russian Army, the Russian Army was heavily demoralized in the face of the better armed, better trained Austrian and Prussian troops, and close to mutiny.
In Febuary of 1917, the first part of the Revolution took place, forcing the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II and the establishment of the Russian Provisional Government, and then with the October Revolution, the establishment of the Russian SFSR, leading then to the signing of the Bresk-Litovsk Treaty in 1918, formally ending Russian involvement in World War I.

Prior to this and afterwards, the United States had been having it's own troubles with socialist (especially communist) strikes, riots, and protests, which lead to distrust in the public of communism in general. That the Russian Empire had fallen to the Communist Bolsheviks lead to a massive diplomatic rift between not just the United States, but almost all of Western Europe and Russia. Even after the Great War, few nations recognized the new Soviet Union as a legitimate nation.

Moving forward, when Germany invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, the Western Allies hoped for a time that the Nazis and the Soviets would destroy each-other, but after Hitler declared war on the United states later that very year (11th of December, 1941, four days after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor) the Soviet Union and the United States found themselves part of an uneasy alliance to take down the Axis nations.
Stalin had, prior to the German invasion, his own plans for Eastern Europe, and had even signed agreements with the Nazis regarding Poland and how the rest of Europe would be divided between the two regimes.
Many of the Western strategists and politicians had grave misgivings regarding the Soviet Union, and began secret planning for possible pushes into western Europe by the Red Army following the conclusion of World War II. General Patton notoriously suggested that after American and British forces moved into Berlin that they should continue going until they reached Moscow.
Stalin, meanwhile, had been executing dissidents and opponents in the wake of the massive Soviet push into Germany, and after the conclusion of the European theatre of war, proceeded to capitalize on the chaos that had swept much of Eastern Europe following the Soviet advance against the Nazis. The Allies feared that another war might be inevitable and hastily began taking position to check any further Soviet advance into Western Europe, leading to an immediate cooling of relationships between Russia nd the United States of America, as well as the first round of the covert intelligence war that would underpin the following half-century of tensions known as the Cold War.

At the end of World War II, the United States came out at the other end as undisputably the most powerful nation in the World, having both Nuclear Weapons and demonstrating it's vast industrial manufacturing capacity. It was relatively untouched by the conflict, with all of the American mainland intact and unaffected by the extensive, intense fighting that had plagued the Soviets during the War. That said, the Soviet Union quickly rose up as a potent rival to the United States, and doubly so when they became the second nation to have a successful nuclear weapons program.
This lead to the awe and terror-inspiring Arms Race of the Cold War which saw both nations accumulate enough weapons of mass destruction to exterminate all life on the planet hundreds of times over with Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Weapons.

In the face of constant brinkmanship by both sides, persitent proxy wars, and a never-ending war of spies, the World teetered dangerously close numerous times to total annihilation. In the end, however, the Soviets focus on a staggering level of military-industrial development ahead of other considerations, repressive commercial, political, and social policies, and corrput internal politics lead to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, bit by bit until the open elections in 1991.
Now, the Soviet Union is gone, but Putin and the former security and intelligence appartaus of the Soviet Union has been attempting to regain some of the previous 'buffer zones' in former Soviet states and satellites, in addition to a newly hostile and aggressive political, military, and economic stance. Furthermore, the new controls that the Kremlin has placed on media and the deaths of numerous political detractors of Putin have only added to the distrust of the United States and it's allies in NATO, and have given rise to fears of a new Cold War tension.

I would argue that the best hope for both Russia and the United States, and for the safety and security of the world at large, is for this rivalry to end, and become cooperation. The world has become strangely small, and the differences of politics as orchestrated by governments, the differentiation of borders, and the isolation of nations pales in comparison to the connections made possible by information technologies. As these technologies continue to grow and challenge the old modes of thinking and power that have shaped human history for so long, and as economic, cultural, and social progress becomes a clay shaped by further advances in these technologies, the relevance of the old national hatreds and rivalries will fade away as people are able to connect with joyful impunity, against the wishes of the old world.

THIS ENDS YOUR HISTORY LESSON FOR TODAY.
