Well, first - don't think that "obamacare" is going to be there is you're not already on... Humana is pulling out which means its end is coming.
If you're in good health now - you can find what's known as a "CASH" policy (Cancer, Accident, Stroke, Heart-Attack) coverage pretty cheap, and (Mya is Right) back that up with an Aflac policy - the problem is (aaaaa..."Companion"?) doesn't qualify you for most of these - you're considered "high risk" so you have to have a regular, steady (like IRS steady) job... but if you do this on the side, you're probably good.
The difference in those plans is they don't usually cover hardly anything for regular doctor visits... so, if you are running to a clinic every week because a client gave you a cold - you're going to pay a lot of Dr. visits... Still, if something major happens, The AFLAC gives you a daily income (usually after day 2) and the CASH policy covers pretty much all the stuff with a very minimum $500-$1.5K out of pocket. (I know that sounds like a lot - but if you're facing a major surgery that's $20k... $1.5k aint bad.
