Mourning a Friend.

#32 - On occasion, we may lose a valuable member of our community as a result of an unexpected accident, natural causes, or other various circumstances. The grieving process when these situations arise is often difficult and ECCIE has established a procedure to follow in such cases to protect the memory and more importantly the anonymity of our deceased member. A brief announcement will be made to inform the membership and honor the deceased member's contributions here without revealing any circumstances that may jeopardize the privacy of any of the parties involved. It will be immediately locked, and no further discussion allowed.

Wakeup--

It would only be relevant if she had mentioned him by handle. The idea behind that rule is to prevent someone from being able to connect a handle to a DOD and therefore risk giving up the persons anonymity. That isn't the case here.

Nicely said, Grace. Sometimes rules need to be applied with judgement, not blindness. There are far too many who don't ever care to understand the thought behind a rule, but prefer to bludgeon people with it.

I don't think this thread was started to identify to the community that a specific person had died, but rather to discuss the issue of a client-friend dieting, the difficulties and feelings it produces, etc. To close off the discussion because the person happened to be an ECCIE member or not seems to miss the point--and defeat the purpose of the board.

I often tell short snapshots of people in the community--mostly ladies--but always change the details to make them anonymous, but still try to convey the personal nature of the vignette.
I'm sorry for your loss you truly are a sweet person
