He's not saying "run off with". He's saying "run off" as in chase away. Ergo, "Who" is correct.

"I" is the subject of the sentence; "whom" is the correct object of the verb "run off".

I refer you to Grammar Girl's discussion of Who Versus Whom, in particular her examples on page 2, "Whom did you step on?" and "Whom do I love?"
