Possible scam?

Its a common scam used on people. First, if the police or feds want to question you, they will see you in person with or without an appointment. Hang up on these calls, unless you like to tool these crooks around by pretending you believe they are law enforcement. Usually these jerks aren't even in the US. They instruct the sucker to buy gift cards or debit cards to pay the fine or owed taxes, and give them the card information. They cash out the card before the sucker realizes he has been scammed.

yep, if you have the time and some b.s.-leading-them-on game ...

follow all their instructions & reply back to them (but not immediately).
then when it comes time to give them gift/debit card numbers, just make some up. when they come back and say the #s dont work, tell them those are the numbers on the card that the cute saleslady sold you!! then when they come back at you, ask if they're calling you a liar. then tell them they are correct - and to fuck off !!! goal being - waste their time some they don't scam someone else while they are waiting on you.
