Today, two men were found dead...

Heavy lifting...LOL that is funny. Biggest source of disinformation on the air.
j.l....
the only heavy lifting fox does is to spread tons of shit all over the news....
Agree with JD. The fact these guys were former SEALS is not insignificant.
I'm beginning to think that you're as slow as Eva. If it was reported that a former active SEAL was found dead near the compound that housed Bin Laden where he was visiting as a tourist, don't you think that it may be relevant? This isn't some highway crash, this is the ship where a SEAL team killed all the pirates...or didn't you put that together. So are we're not talking about what happened to them, I am talking about the editorial policies of many news outlets. XNYK gets that, Eva doesn't . Originally Posted by JD Barleycorn

This is a news article, NOT an editorial, so editorial policy is irrelevant.

And the comparison to a dead Ex-SEAL near Bin Laden's compound is also stupid. If that true, that would mean the Ex-SEAL died in Pakistan (a hostile nation) near the Pakistani military academy. That would be relevant for obvious political reasons.

The connection between the Maersk Alabama and Somalia is purely a accident of history. It had the bad luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So, the Maersk Alabama now carries security guards on board - like countless other ships. And two of them ODed. And one of the druggies was a former SEAL. Other thatn pure coincidence, what is your point? If the guy OD'ed on the Maersk Kalmar, would you think there was some connection to the US Navy program for testing algae biofuels on ships?

You are looking for some connection to a leftwing plot to ignore a SEAL. There isn't one. Except in your mind.

You want something better and timely? A famous actor with a reputation of heroin use if found dead with heroin nearby. I think it becomes relevant that the dead person was a former heroin user whether it turns out that they died of a heart attack or an overdose.

Navy Seals are not famous actors. JD you forget these news outlets are a business. They can write whatever headline will sell more papers. With Fox News that may mean leading with the fact that Navy Seals were dead and burying the part about the drug overdose in the story. Just the way business is run.
Two Navy seals din in Heroin overdose!!!

Happy now JD ?

Maybe the other guys didn't do the heavy lifting like they do at Fox? Originally Posted by Jewish Lawyer

You'll don't know much about how news is gathered around the world do you. This happened at some little island where a local "stringer" has a number and email address of the new services in case anything of interest happens. He prolly gets $50 if something makes it on the wire. When he finds out that two men die on the Captain Phillips boat he calls it in to the wire services re-write desk who takes down the info. They prolly tell him to call back if he finds out anything else. At this time he probably does not know they died of drugs. Later he finds out they died of a drug overdose and were former Seals. He phones this in. The re-write desk(probably not in the US) works this into an update of the story. By now the headline has been written. Normally this will not change, the wire service will just send out a notice of an update to the story and the new facts will be worked into the story. Sorry to disappoint everyone but there is no shadow office telling all office not to put "Ex-Seals" in the headline, it has nothing to do with policy. It has to do with how news is gathered around the world and sent it and distributed.

Now you are comparing the deaths of famous people to two unknown former SEALS. You have NO idea how to make a valid comparison.

The actor Paul Walker was all over the news and he died in a car wreck, not an OD.

Celebrity deaths ALWAYS make the news, whether it is an OD or something else.

You are desperate to make sense of your stupid initial post. But you are looking worse and worse.

There is no liberal policy against using "Seal" in the headline, sorry to disappoint you. It is just the way news gathering works in the world today. I repeat IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLICY! It is about how events are reported on and who writes and distributes the headlines and stories.
