B) What other accepted screeners are there that one could use?
C) You could tell I'm a total newb to the hobby if I asked how to find out whether a provider accepts newbs, right?
D) What does the screening process entail in general? I can understand why some newbs prefer to remain anonymous (marriages etc).

If you are serious about this hobby you need to make an investment and play the long-game.
Find someone that is newbie friendly. Sometimes they will state it in the ad but sometimes not. If they are not newbie friendly, more than likely they will state it right up front. You will have to show them an ID if they are credible. I had to submit a drivers license and work ID on my first time but that was a full-blown encounter.
Maybe ask about a short dinner date at a public place where they can feel comfortable. Then you can use that to schedule something more significant with them. Depending on the situation you may be able to do something that evening if they are completely satisfied with you. Remember feeling comfortable works both ways.
If you are interested in getting a P411 account, then who you choose needs to be a P411 provider. You will need at least 2 OKAYs get it approved. More OKAY's might help it get approved quicker although it took me two days. The second provider you see will be a little easier with having the first reference. It might help to ask the first one if they have any provider friends that you could see as the second. Usually if two providers know one another well enough a simple phone conversation about you might be all there is to get that second encounter.
Last tip. I have found communicating with the provider in complete and thought-out sentences helps to go a long way. The same can be said for dating sites.
