Oh boy. This summer hiatus has taken its toll. I'm a terrible moderator [insert sad emoticon].

Articles for Newbies - I'm too lazy to write one up but I should find a good link. Three things every Noob should find out: (1) Have realistic expectations. (2) Be prepared to have references or provide real world information. (3) The hobby is not ON DEMAND pussy.

Best Sushi Place in DC - That's a hard one. I've not found one good sushi place in DC. None that I would ever recommend to people. I used to recommend places like Kushi (closed) and Sei. Not because they were phenomenal places for fish but because the atmosphere was hot and sexy for dates. Of the places that you asked, I hoped you went to Sushi Taro. Probably the most reliable of the 3. A bigger question becomes ... what type of sushi are you looking for? Rolls? Nigiri? Fresh? Cooked? Food by the Volume?

Oh man. I wouldn't even know where to begin for sake. Drink it cold, not warm. Heated sake dulls the senses so they often mark-up cheap sake because it's easy to mask bad sake when it's hot.
Taro would have been the way to go from the options you listed! Wondering why good sushi is so hard to find in the DC area. IMO Sushi-ko is consistent and good.
